sorry mods if this is against the rules it's an ethical question and I am not linking to the auction:

I miss threaded a lock ring and screwed up a wheel, i rolled on it for about 10 yards went to re-tighten the lock ring and the lock ring just spun. I listed the wheel as a new single speed wheel on ebay and have gotten 2 messages about it. I replyed to 1 of them, the other called me a d*ckface so I didn't bother responding.

A: You obviously did not read my entire description or do noyt understand track wheels. It is not worthless, it's just not usable as a fixed gear wheel, the lockring is stripped. As it is a flip-flop hub the freewheel side is still usable, and you can even still thread a freewheel on over the fixed side because they don't use the lockring threads. The Lockring threads are stepped down and reverse threaded on the hub. The wheel is still new in that that ridding 10 yards is hardly any wear on the rim or bearings. It's like the wheel was used on a test ride and found to be a factory second.

meh, you probably shouldn't have listed it in new, but you're not a dickface because of it. You were pretty forward in your description.

As long as you've detailed the lockring thread stripping, I think you're fine. If other people are idiots and don't understand the difference between singlespeed (freewheel) and fixed, that's not your fault.

not from a logical standpoint. unfortunately, 99% of the day you won't be dealing with people who posess the ability to think as such...

i don't think you are in the wrong, because it's not like you didn't tell them that the lockring threads were stripped, you have full information saying that it couldn't be used as a fixed wheel and only as a singlespeed. I don't see why it would be such a big deal.

seems like you listed it with a clear enough description. you dont seem to be attempting to pull one over on bidders, so i say you are all good. and if people dont like it, they dont have to bid on it.

i mean, i guess the fact that it was "used" once would make it not "new", techinically speaking... but that's just a matter of view and focus. it is "new" if you use a freewheel, as explained quite level-headedly and fairly in the auction description... seems rational, fair and well explained/detailed ::: what a relief!
