Hello Champaign and Urbana...
 

Doesn't it seem like more and more Champaign and Urbana are over represented on this board considering our size? I am just curious, how many of us are here now?

delay i think it also would help to know who is displaced from chicago or other large urban settings and who's not.

(and yeah, im not really in champaign but its more of a home than bloomington)

I'm here and I keep seeing new fixed gear or single speeds around campus

I know its been mentioned before and I have been wanting to do it but we should get together for a ride sometime. I would like to know how many of us are here and how many are on BF

ha ha, I was at school today and there was a flyer for a basketball game coming up, They (UIC) called it "Farms vs. Skyscrapers." Just thought I'd throw some rivalry in here, though your engineering program is better than ours... *bows head in shame*

What does everyone around here ride...does anyone know who rides a red soma rush or a blue bridgestone conversion? other than that Ive seen a few around some KHS flites and a pista or two. I'll post pics of my current bike and my new conversion I am building up when I get home from work...

Yo. Yeah it's a little weird how we're on the boards. Must be the college-town thing. I ride the super-tall grey Schwinn conversion. I'd say there are at least 20 of us running around here.

holy shcit...INFEST...now that makes me feel really really old

If you've seen a red Trek 330 road bike around (non-fixed) that's me. Right now I'm abroad in Liverpool, but when I get back next semester I should be riding a converted Schwinn Circuit, or possibly something else if I can find a better fit. Just look for a red and white bike with either a rising sun theme or single red circle on the down tube.

I'm pretty sure I know who homealien is, have any of you gone to the critical mass rides?

EDIT: Also, depending on how I like the Miche hubs and if I can find a suitable set, I might be on a front disc conversion.

homealien = kannan? the blue bridgestone is a dude named bill, khs flites are all bike team dudes cos of the discount, the pista i know of is a kid named charlie. red soma rush is some dude with the 8 pound nyc krypto chain lock and he runs both brakes. that about all i know about him, met him once at crit mass last semester. everyone should go on friday!

i saw a kind of tall, white peugeot conversion outside of rentertainment that was pretty better looking. that was a long time ago, like 3 four months ago. anyone know who it belongs to? and i dont know if any of you use facebook, but there is a fixie group on there.
could i be included in the champaign group cause im over there at least twice a month? ill be sure to bring my bike one of these days if theres a ride going on. i promise! ill bring pie!

larger sized puegot outside of rentertainment belongs to one of the employees. the tall one...duh. he only rides it in decent weather it seems. anyone going to chicago for the TdC this weekend. i need a ride, else it's the train or not at all.

there are two gray schwinn conversions, one with red bar tape and no brakes and one with a front brake.

Mine's the grey schwinn conversion with red bar tape and no brake.

hah kannan, its nick. i stole brians gibberish when we made up dj alter egos a while ago. im muftek and he's gleebarf (of course). the white peugot belongs to a dude named fred, i think hes running a cog on a freewheel hub, and if i remember right, it may be sans bb lockring or loctite. suicide! i dont think i know who andrew is...

in front of the alma mater at 5:15. at the beginning of fall we had like 30-40 people, but last month, there was, oh 8 or so haha

its the last friday of every month correct?...I won't be there this week as I am out of town for a snowboarding trip...

I grew up around Chambana, does that count? Good area to ride...go Illini...

I ride a black IRO with yellow tires. I think I have seen pretty much all the bikes mentioned in this thread, but can't place a face to any of them.

An interesting champaign phenomena I have noticed. First that yellow KHS's are multiplying rapidly, and second, I have never actually seen one ridden...just locked to things.

Oh, and I might go the the CM tonight I will see whats up at 5:15.

The KHS's exist cause KHS is a major sponsor of the bike racing team and so the racers get a good deal. Funny that you never see them ridden, though. I've seen them ridden, but only rarely. Hey anyone from Chambana out there, if you ride a yellow KHS, show up to crit mass!
