To be or not to be: Campy Record vs. Sugino 75 cranksets
I did a search and found some info but I am still looking for some more opinions. I am about to install a new drivetrain and I am thinking I should go with either Campy record pista or Sugino 75. I have a Sugino 75 BB already so I was thinking I should go that route for convenience. I also have an opportunity to pick up some Campy Records on a trade so I might go that way. My question concerns performance and wear. Also those non-serviceable disposable record BB's aren't my style but will the Sugino 75 BB need tons of upkeep? This bike will be on the streets year round including winters of salt and wet.

I guess that is one of my concerns. How does the unsealed BB's handle the winter months? I've got no drainage on my BB shell.

i hate repacking BBs
from a performance and aesthetics (IMHO - you're talking the new records, right?) perpective, go with the Records. If you've got the money.

there is a reason why the only place unsealed bbs are still used is the track.

the chainline is cool with those 2 alternative Campy BB's?
also does anyone know how serviceable the Phil Wood campy equivalent is?

the 111mm axle, symmertrical campy ac-h and sc-s bottom brackets create a 43.5mm chainline (according to campy literature). the theoretical perfect track chainline is 43mm (beers on me if you can proove a performance difference in that .5mm).
using a phil with a 110.5 axle the more expensive option, but will allow you to fine tune your chainline to your heart's desire.

This is the one bumout I saw with the record pista BB (from Business Cycles) "Campagnolo's current bottom bracket models, the Record Pista is not designed to permit bearing replacement at periodic service intervals." Why would something so expensive not be serviceable? Poo poo.
Atleast the phil's and other model campys can be serviced. And 46X17 the skateboard imagery definitely helped for my undestanding of the cartridge bearings. Those were the days.

...and I like to drill drain holes in my bb shells if there be none. Water's going to get in the frame, and it's good to have a way out. Just make sure the tubes and shell are well-coated with anti-rust somethingorother...
