[RANT] my LBS dude sucks
I was at my LBS about an hour ago to get some powergrips. Seeing as I know nothing about them, I asked the guy if they'd work with my pedals, and he says yes, then grabs a pair, rings me up and ushers me out the door. I get home, and start attachign everything, only to find out, that they don't. Or at least they sohuldn't, but one of the screws that hold my pedals together just happens to be in the perfect spot and is the perfect size to continue. so I get the strap attached, and I'm sizing it to my foot, when I find out they're waaay too long. I check their hours online, and they're listed as still open, so I call to make sure he'll let me trade them (seeing as I did open them already), and he goes sorry we're closed, we open tomorrow at 10.
Now I'm stuck wondering whether I want to skip class for bike parts and riding around (and it's supposed to be a lot nicer of a day out tomorrow than it has been) or wait until late in the day to get them replaced with the stuff I thought I bought. I liked that shop until now too. |
Also, I'm 6' even and skinny. It's kind of obvious I don't wear a size 13.
|
Haha, I'm 6'1", pretty skinny, and I wear a 13.. blah. Makes getting shoes a pain.
|
my LPO sucks.
(local post office) today I dropped off a package that was to be sent to Brazil. instead they sent it to Conneticut. jag-offs why is everyone so dumb these days? |
my LF(local feet) suck i'm a size 14, have you ever tried to buy non-leather sweatshop free shoes in 14, man everyone sucks today

I think I'm gonna skip some classes and get some work done in between riding tomorrow. One the plus side of today, I did get to ride a lot, and when I got to work and started to ask my boss about what we needed to get done for the day, he interrupted me to talk about my bike and admire it. That was fun. |
baer is the worst.
|
Which shop do you recommend then?
Bike source is asstastic, and Once Ridden is only good for cheap stuff from what I've seen, though I could be wrong. |
much to my chagrin, baer is pretty much the only shop around campusland that stocks and orders higher end stuff. i just do not like going there at all when the owner is there.
there is a shop in westerville (westerville bike shop) on main st that is good, but it's not close to here at all. alas. |
did they sell you the extra long straps? ugg. you can make them work without looking bad if you install them so that the black part is on top instead of the **** that says POWERGRIPS. that's what i did with my most recent pair. you could just clip the bottom once you get them sized properly.
|
yeah baer is a jerk. someone else needs to open a fixie friendly shop around here, i bet they could steal all his business

Would it seriously screw them up if I sized them by goring a new hole into them? If only I had known that there was a shop in Westerville. I work up there and was probably within 2 miles of them today. |

Ipath 1985s. Comfy, warm, non-leather winter riding goodness. I can skate in em too (just not well). My normal riding shoes are a lot thinner, but I figured if my Ipaths fit I'd just use those, seeing as it's winter and all, but like I said, the straps are still too big.

most people dont know this but the folks who work at bike shops are the same angsty people that work at most record shops and almost every coffee shop. just stare em down and be nice.
|
i say ditch school for bike w/e happens :D

I went back at 10, LBS dude wasn't there, shop was closed.
I went back at 10:30, LBS dude wasn't there, shop was closed. I went back at 11, LBS dude wasn't there, shop was closed. I just called at 11:40 and he's finally open. |

|
Yup. I got it all worked out finally. Different guy there, much nicer than the guy last night. My rant is finished, woohoo!

There's way more than three of us, it's just that there's only three on BFSSFG.
