Spike-end flat handlebars: what brand are they?

Does anyone know the company that makes the flat handlebars with pointy tips at the ends? I believe they're chrome plated. Thank you! :D

dumbest.thing.ever.

FreeRidin' 02-22-06 12:25 PM

they are probaly just a bar end.

AfterThisNap 02-22-06 12:27 PM

Unless they're made of foam they're a terrible idea.

But to find what you're looking for, check out a lowrider bicylcle catalog. No joke.

thebankman 02-22-06 12:37 PM

ok hipsters don't get your panties in a bunch, google aint helping me so maybe you can

Completely flat bar (zero rise obviously), the ends are pointed tips. I saw some new reviews for these a few weeks ago but forgot to see the manufacturer.

there is a german frame manufacturer that makes spiked bar ends...ouch! can't remember the name. saw it on here before.

Yeah, I forget the name now too. I think they were called "car scratchers" or something like that. And they're just bar ends, not bars.

edit: Google search brought up these.

I'm not saying it's a terrible fashion statement, I just think it's dumb to make a bike deadlier. I've already been impaled twice and gashed my leg open a few times (sharkbite scars!) without having components that were intentionally sharpened.

that's a stupid idea for any bike you're actually going to ride.

skanking biker 02-22-06 02:01 PM

I saw some hubs that have long sharpened chariot style blades coming off the sides---i think they look cool--anyone know where can i get some

cphfxt 02-22-06 02:02 PM

Does anyone know what brand of dynamite is sized to be compatible as a seatpost? I saw SuperDave do something like this on the interweb and forgot to link the site.

p.s. prefer maroon dynamite.

Thanks!

Ah yes the "carscratcher" product is similar, but it's not a bar-end, it's an entire handlebar with similar ends pre-fabricated and non-removable. The cheapo specialized flat bars I have are starting to make a creaky noise which is freaking me out so I'm looking for a heavy duty handlebar to replace them before the bars snap in two and I impale myself on the stem.

so, instead, you'd prefer to impale yourself on the bar ends the first time you crash?

thebankman 02-22-06 02:37 PM

Whether you get hit by a semi-sharp point or a blunt point, don't you think you're going to be hurting afterward either way?

Does any company make a cheap, flat bar? The design seemed simple and easy (and hopefully reasonably priced). The only flat bars out there seem to be carbon fiber, expensive and easily breakable. Oh also a magnet for theft.

cphfxt 02-22-06 02:41 PM

Uh..?? Donīt they all? :)
I personally like the specialized one, it has just the kink I need.. But I donīt have one at the moment..hm..

WakeUpOnFire 02-22-06 03:30 PM

why a crossroads and a sarthe? and which one is fixed and/or singlespeed?

Why the **** would you want spiked handlebars?

skanking biker 02-22-06 03:47 PM

"Blunt point"--oxymoron??

Hmmm---if i had a choice of smashing into a blunt object or being impaled on a sharp object---i'll take the blunt trauma everyday and twice on sundays
