weelbuilding strength??
 

Good morning, greetings from the Netherlands,

I just build a wheel with the pattern 3 leading and 3 Trailing spokes (http://www.terminalvelocity.demon.co.uk/WheelBuild/ ), very nice. But does anyone know if it is as strong as normal 'over 3'.

Neer the hub the spokes are a littele more bended in the 3 leading and 3 Trailing pattern. But the spokes are the same length as in the normal 'over 3' pattern.

I don't have any experience with them, but from an engineering perspective, as long as there is even tension on the spokes, 3L-3T should be nearly as strong as a 3X wheel. The bending of the spokes shouldn't really affect them that much, considering how little they are actually bent.

A lot of folks ride with tied and soldered spokes, which deforms them even more, with no problem.

Can't say much about the strength of the 3L3T spoke pattern
but nice web site.
as Aeroplane says if the tension is even should be just fine.

Know a couple of guyes riding wheels like that on the streets as messengers, and they have a problem with spokes breaking. Maybe a poor build? I dont know. I have been riding the Crow-foot and the 2L 2T with no problems.
