Fizik Pave- this is why they suck
besides being an ass hatchet...
I got this saddle from a friend, who bought it new, rode it 4 or 5 times, then put it in his parts box. I had ridden it for maybe 3,4 months. It started creaking when I was many miles from home, then all of a sudden I was sliding off to the side. Luckily I was going pretty slow, so I didn't eat it. My local bike coop was generous enough to lend me a saddle so that I wouldn't have to ride the rest of the way home standing up (Bike Church you rock!) There are only two tiny little screws hilding the rails to the plastic body. Weaksauce.

it asploded maybe a minute after said creaking started. I was navigating some sketchy traffic and I couldn't pull over in time.

I've had the rail clamp bolt go out before. It's not a pleasant experience, having your saddle disappear from underneath you.

By the way, is that a Ritchey seatpost?

Really ghetto (just to limp home) fix:
Wrap those rails in spare tube(s) and shirt/newspaper/etc.

I love my Fizik Gobi but that is really unfortunate. I hope mine doesn't fail like that.
I could understand with a 10 buck bmx seat but for 50+ no saddle should do that.

I hope my Ariones never do that, especially the full CF one that I plan to order for my WW bike. If that one blew up, I think I'd have to call up someone from Fizik to come over and pick the shards and splinters of CF from my ass.

Can't you just screw the plate back in and bend in the rails? A significant amount of saddles have rails that are just bent and put in place. It might be worth looking into if you paid any good amount of money on it, or if you have some time to fiddle. There is a good chance it's not a complete waste.

the plate and one of the orange rubber sockets is lying somewhere on the busiest street in my town, the saddle is a loss. I paid 1 beer for it thought so its all good. I got an old school vetta on there now, well see how that works out.
