i only read about a few times....but then i saw it first hand....YUCK. thoughts on the ugly subject?

cups are silly with sealed bearings.

i hate them because they turn headset problems into frame problems.

chris king hates them because you can't see the big bold chris king graphics.

well that and the fact that the head tube looks pregnant, and what if you decide to use an aftermarket fork? will it just bule out or become totally shadowed by the bulky set up? idunno.

it looks terrible.

Why? It looks cleaner.

I'm not too worried about aesthetics, but I hate the idea that screwing up an integrated headset basically means screwing up your frame.

No thanks.

Sloping top tubes, on the other hand, are great.

how are you going to screw up an integrated headset that uses seal cartridge bearing?
The moving parts are in the cart not between the headtube and the cart.
There is no chance of damaging it during installation or removal untlike with cups.
Any force hard enough to ovalize it would ovalize any other headtube too.

The welds on that King site are the most hideous things I have ever seen.

Ding Ding we have a winner. The concerns I see voiced above are the same the MTBers have been belly-aching about for a lil while. And are wrong...aside from asthetics, it's a cleaner solution that weighs less.

I've been riding with integrated headsets almost exclusively on my roadbike and a few MTBs for about four years now with no real complaints...even after I was scared by the CK article.
Anyone that has a huge opinion about integrated vs. traditional headsets without significant seat time is a tard.

Good lord that is absolutely gorgeous.

My bike that has an integrated headset has an unnerving amount of play. It's annoying. I'll take an internal or external anyday.

(then again, I dislike threadless headsets, too.. oh well)

Chris King's a dumbass. Integrated frames look kickazz! Granted, you might make the argument about durability, but considering only looks. Integrated is sweet.

I think the main problem is for the people who rides in the street... so no wonder they have problems... in track no problems because there r no brakes to start with. In the road it depends, but i had my bike with integrated headset like for 1 year and no problems so far.

I think the problem with recurrycelt its the crap that goes inside of the steereing post.. the star nut. I recomend to change that for an expander, Usually are sold for carbon forks with carbon steering post (or whatever the name of that is). The expander its easyer to install and u can apply better preasure when tighting it inside of the fork, and let u apply better power when tighting the whole fork, headset and stem.

Star nuts usually have problems because they move, simply sucks, besides if u need to take them out... nah nah bad idea...
