Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

I think only if he ended the story "and than I was cut off by a badly driving drunken half black half white, quarter asian, mostly irish, hispanic old lady gardener soccer mom taking up two lanes driving a stolen SUV gypsy cab with car full of landscaping equipment and smelly cheap drunken mexican midget jews....honkey"

That happens to me alot. It never get less strange.
Today an old postal worker stopped me to talk about how the brooks saddle on my bike was 'just like the one he had as a kid' and tell me about a racing bike he was building.
****ing awesome. I hope I'm building 'racing bikes' when I'm that old.

Watch, as I effortlessly hijack this thread!

How many people here are or have been package jockeys?

I used to back in the day. This might also answer the messenger forum bit too.

Right after I saw you today, Mareesha, an elderly black woman walked by as I was locking up on 6th and said, "Nice fix." Happens almost every day. College students, Ready and Able guys, cleaning ladies, doormen. All the population agrees- Nice Fix.
I am a "package jockey."
