Ideas to build up my bike...
I recently bought the the iro mark v frame used and need to find....
1. Crankset
2. Hubs (rear)
Anyone have any suggestions as to what is good? I am looking at Shimano, Sugino, Campagnolo for the crankset, but don't really know what is good. As for the hubs, I was looking at IRO flip flop hub, miche, some kind of shimano? I really don't know what is good, just need someone to educate me on some stuff.
Also, just for aesthetic purposes, what color handlebar wraps would go well with black?

depends how much you want to spend. you cant really go wrong with any of those options. And part two, anything goes well with black. more black, red, yellow, neon pink, whatever.

go back to tony at IRO for the bits and pieces. black on black is best, inmo.
if you need education on which part is best for what application, simply sit back and read through about a million threads here complete with arguments for each side, and plenty of funny disagreements. you'll learn all there is to know about everything fixed-gear related just by sifting through all the posts here. everyone likes iro, everyone likes campy and dura ace and suntour superbe prop.

Also, another thing was if it's reasonable to go with a flipflop over strictly track hub. Is there any other reason to get a flip flop over a regular track hub other than the fact that sometimes you want to coast down a hill without pedaling?

No, I own a bianchi, just an old 1990 campione. It's the bike I've been riding since highschool. I just wanted to get into fixed gear bikes.

thats cool then, I say go back to tony and get his cranks and wheels... good value and looks simple. If not cranks, then def the wheels, they are great and last a long time.

IRO is, IMO, awesome. i just got new wheels from them. first time ive ever bought something from them, and they showed up fast and all pretty and true. and tensioned, something i was worried about. the lady on the phone was super nice too.

So no one's really addressed my question about the flip flop versus regular track hub. Is there anything else to consider w/ the flipflop besides the fact that it would let you coast down hill?

that if you dont want to use single speed you could get a double fixed and have a choice of two gearings. Or just one sided and save a little money, I think. you will never get to the top of a hill and be like, "this hill looks like a *****, I'm gonna flip my wheel around." It's much too much of a pain in the ass.

more holes also equal more weight... not that much but if your light, not point in add weight where it's not needed.
fixed/fixed is good if you ride track because this way you don't need to worry about changing out cogs all the time since track gearing is usually bigger than street.
