olympics??? frame ID
i bought a used track frame from a bike shop that was closing down. its a little small for me, but it had track dropouts and was dirt cheap. there is no stamping on the drops and the badge is missing. someone said possibly a older botteccia. has a campy bottom bracket. while stripping the paint off, i found something curious underneath. can anyone help with frame identification? much appricated.

looks like a nice fixer upper (whatever it is). how cheap is dirt cheap?
|
:( i know those colors.. ive seen them before... someday i'll remember :( sorry...

Anything on the underside of the BB shell? Nice score.
|
underside of BB shell, fork crown close up, and close up of seat cluster are the most useful pics for identifying.
|
i was gonna say...i have no clue, but it looks like (aside from aesthetic concerns) you have a nice score there. fixer-upper, indeed.
|
pretty unique headtube lugs and chainstays on that frame. someone will know what it is.

wraparound stays?

It's a Schwinn Paramount track frame from 1938-1941 hand built by Emil Wastyn in Chicago (at Wastyn's shop, not the Schwinn factory). 1941 was the last year of the balled-end seat stays that you have. After that they became flat like mine. Campy BB not original.

Yours is def earlier. |
wow. GOOD ****IN' SCORE.
i'm jealous now. big "boo! hiss!" to you! ;) |
I would hug you for such a good score, but I'd probably stab you in the back in the process. AMAZING find man, rock that thing.

there's a 30s or 40s schwinn paramount restoration for sale in bike works for like $3,500. you got a good deal!
