I heard from some of you about the monday night races that used to happen in Central Park--but I never made it out to any of them, as I moved to NYC in August, and didn't get my bike together until december, after they were long over.

The weather is getting nicer. Anyone want to ride/race tonight? Don't be intimidated, because if I race, you will probably not come in last.

What part of the park did you all meet at? If I had my way, it would be at 110 and Lenox at 9PM, but I'm open to suggestion.

Thoughts?

i hit the park for a couple of laps every night after i ride home anyway. my schedule's a little nuts, so sometimes that's not until right around the time the park closes or a few hours later(which results in NYPD scoldings...). time-permitting, i'd show up.

generic, you shoulda come to piermont. it was fun.

^^^couldn't, I had my top wisdom teeth pulled Thursday and I was still in a stupor. Just starting to get back to normal now.

Assuming that we want to do these rides some evening of the week as the weather gets nicer, what day works for people? M T and W work best for me. Th bad, as it conflickts with PP and with my work the next day.

I'd be down, but Monday nights are usually no good, unless its early, like 7ish. Tuesday's would be fantastic though. Monday is a nice recovery day from the weekend, and it'd be nice to have an extra day off before beating myself up again.

My hands are really sunburnt from the piermont ride, which was fantastic, btw, and I hope to see more people come out for it next time.

If you're going to be "racing" i would hold them at 10pm earliest. This is so the park will be mostly empty. I might be able to make it out for Monday nights.

i think cp empties out sooner than pp. i am apt to say 9pm would be fine. do what you will with this discrepancy.

9 is often too soon as there are running clubs in the park a lot when the weather is better and often there are THOUSANDS of people there. last year we found the park to be bustling @ 9. an other factor is that there is a lot more thru traffic in cp with people walking between the UWS and UES. but it is chillier now than it was then, so who knows. But at least during the summer months 9 was too early.

I was planning on pulling this together when it got warm out, but I wanted to promote it as something more than a race.
Perhaps meet up at columbus circle, do a few laps around the small loop, then from there people could hang out at the mall while the racers split off to do three laps around the big loop.
Something like a little swap shop/meet n'greet every week in the city.
