The one I'm using looks pretty blackish.

I just rode a Phil 18t cog for the first time today...
I wanted an all new drivetrain on my beater so it's a:
Campy C-Record track crank (170mm)
HKK Vertex chain (silver)
Phil 18t cog
TA Specialities 44t chainring
Phil bottom bracket

Dude, this stuff ROCKS!
This gearing is perfect for the hills of SF.......
44/18 and yeah you spin a bit on the flats BUT ...it's a City ! and you never REALLY get to mash...
It's all stoplights, pedestrians, pigeons, and potholes..

A bit??? wtf

That might work for me now but after more training i think the hills in SF will be no match for 42x15

So, in general is everyone saying that these ****ing cogs rock ****ing hard and could be considered the ultra jam. I am huge fan of selling things, should I not sell this cog? Should I ride something I did not pay for? These are all questions that need to be answered. And because of these forums I have lost ability to control my life, please help me, I have become a zombie controlled by the innerweb.

I get really nervous when other people look at my bikes. I'm always afraid they'll make fun of my cog.

actually on that site it says they only have 18, 19 and 20, and i'm looking for 16

Brent at PW 03-16-06 01:48 PM

1/8 16s are done, 3/32 16s are not.
Freewheel, Business, and Harris either do or will in the next couple days have them.

Brent

Brent at PW 03-16-06 01:49 PM

Oh, and both 17s are now done.

awesome, i'll just order one from your site now.

Old Breadbutt 06-18-06 02:47 AM

I have a Phil, it's 15t. got it at Montano Velo, I don't know if they come any smaller though.
By the way, Phil Wood Co gave us a couple to give away as prizes in the Oakand Scrape. one's a 1/8" 17t and the other is 3/32" 18t.
they're totally shiny and chrome looking, and no one is going to look at your cog.

roadfix 07-01-06 07:14 PM

Anyone riding the new Surly cog, the one with the drill outs?
