cars!

short rant:

i was into car ownership when i lived in los angeles, its near impossible to effectively get from point a. to b. without one, especially if the point a is 30 miles away from point b.

as a recent bay area transplant i got rid of my car for a bike and its been great, because of the change my perception of cars and car drivers has changed a lot. im not ranting against car usage in favor of bikes. i just think that the drivers in the bay area are on CRACK. at first i only expected the war to go on between cars and bikes but now that we just had an awful hit and run with a freaking marathon runner who was training at 6am last week, im hot over this sh i t! no witnesses, no one found yet....

man, what the hell? hitting bikers isnt enough?
cars ARE great but not every person NEEDS one or deserves it. i know im a hippy rant here but its bull....furthermore some of you should look into the splitting up of northern cap territory. our habits are melting the caps(obviously) and because of it....its now possible to go through the caps without using an icebreaker...a regular ship can pass, also there is an interest of found fossil fuel there! wtf.

but i am a hypocrite, with out fossile fuels some a lot of our bike products couldnt be made.

yeck.

not sure I followed the part about the polar ice caps (other than the obvious fact that they are melting and it it the fault of us, but especially drivers).

But I do think that northern california should secede from southern california and charge them $1 per gallon of water.

yah yah, i know its not fixed/ss related but it is in someway

Eight countries have Arctic territory and can claim a part of the new sea.

Canada, Denmark (Greenland), Norway, Russia, the United States (Alaska) have arctic coast lines. Iceland, Sweden and Finland have arctic territory but no coast line there. From well outside the Arctic, China and India are interested in helping develop the oil and gas resources exposed by the shrinking ice.

At stake are not only gas and oil, but shipping lanes - the fabled Northwest Passage - and fishing rights and national security.

The rules aren't clear. The Law of the Sea, Article 76 describes how ownership of the Arctic might be settled. The United States has not ratified the Law of the Sea because some senators claim it would infringe on American sovereignty. Proponants of the treaty, including the Pentagon, point out the obvious -- if you don't sign, you can't vote.
