Double gate toe clips
 

I was just shoping for some new toe clips. and relized I have only ever used double gate toe clips. What is the difference in the single gate compared to the double?
I was thinking of getting the double gate soma steel toe clips. Are there any reason not to have them? Just wondering. I had never noticed there was two types.

one hole for the straps to go through in the clips, versus two. I'd never seen the double ones before, kinda nifty.

LOL I should have seen that comming. I mean besides the fact that it has two places for the strap to go though. does it hold your foot better? I never used a single. lol

I dunno. I've only used single ones. I don't see how it could hurt though.

seems like the double could hold the strap "open" better than a single.

I have those soma clips, for me at least they are way easier to get into than the single gate clips.

does anyone know where i can find steel clips meant for double straps? i know they exist...

they fit a lot better with chunky shoes and boots. With old school road shoes, or something with a narrow toe, and not a lot of sole, the single gates are fine, but with hiking boots, combat boots, and all the clunkier styles of street shoes the double gates work much better

All right thanks for the help. Also explains why I have only used doube gate. I up till recently mountain biked almost solely. with a lil' bmxing as well. It would make since that they had double gate for mountain bikes since alot of people ware boots while mountain bikeing. Sounds like I will stick with double gate.
