Ebay tactics, frame&fork or complete bike?
 

So when you are selling a fixed gear frame on ebay, what's the best way to go? I'm potentially about to list something in the near future and wondering what the best approach is. I can think of a bunch of ways about it:

1 - just the frame and fork, not doing this I'll be leaving the headset and bb on
2 - frame fork, headset and bb, the basic
3 - add cranks, stem and the like to it, essentially ship it in a state where it'd be really simple to complete at home, just add wheels and handlebars, no shop tools needed. Having never shipped a bike before I'm also curious how much trickier shipping will be with pedals, a chain ring and the like in the mix
4 - sell a complete bike but use my bottom of the barrel leftovers, crap wheels and the like, stuff that has very little value except in that it will put the buyer on the road immediately so maybe that gets a premium? It cost me nothing except I'll have less of an emergency stash. Adding that stuff seems like it'd make shipping more of a pita though.
5 - sell it complete with the blingy stuff included, essentially means I'd have to buy new bling, but maybe it'd be worth it there's some synergistic value to selling a whole bike like that. Note that this isn't vintage stuff, so there is no "period complete" value.

so what are people's thoughts/experience? I'm pretty much oscillating through options 2-4.


note to the mods: I've never seen a thread like this as useful as it might be, but having looked at the guidelines it doesn't appear to be a violation of any sort, if I missed or misinterpreted something I'm more than happy to take it down.

I'd go with option numero 4. As long as "bottom of the barrel" doesn't mean suicide wheels.

my experience is that hs/bb do not add much to the selling price of the frame, and neither do other parts.

most people seem to want to build up their own bikes, and someone elses parts rarely match what they have in mind for their build.

sell it complete, so people like myself can buy it and part it out and make way more than what we bought it for. I heart capitalism.

um, i'd part that bike out and sell it agonizing piece by piece (unless you've a matched set of something that should stay together (like a Colnago branded campy pista crank should stay with a colnago bike)... you know it when you see it)

But seriously, if it's a nice frame I'd probably just sell the frame and the fork. But if it is not very expensive, there are people new to fixed gears that just want one that they can just buy and ride right away.
