surly fixxer

is it worth it or should i just get a wheelset?

If you have a really sweet set of freehub road wheels that you don't want to relace to a track hub, it's the way to go. That's about the only reason though. It's a lighter weight and more elegant solution to just find an decent cheap fixed hub and get your wheel laced to it.

Or just pick up a whole new fixed wheelset for under $150 if you shop around. The fixxer costs like $80, so you make the choice.

wheelset.
get performance to teach you how to lace wheels this summer.

How about this one? It's reeeaaally cheap so I don't expect it to be super swell. But I'm gonna use my tax return money fix up my bike which isn't enough for wheelset + anything. So I'm thinking I might get that cheap solution until I get me some money to buy wheels. Eh?

Doesn't fix the hub, only lets you use a single cog insted of a cassette.

If you want a singlespeed then there are people in Richmond that can show you how to take the gears off and get the chainlin straight with freewheel. If you want a fixed then buy a new rear wheel...I've still got mine for sale pretty cheap and I think if all you want is a rear whell you can get it pretty cheap somewhere...

if you want to convert it to a singlespeed you might want to check out the 'single cog spacer' from http://www.rennendesigngroup.com should be able to get a straight chainline without a problem
