Hey Pittsburgh...

I'm going to be in Pittsburgh from 12-4 this Friday, as I'm buying a Saab 9000 Turbo (yeah, yeah) from someone in Saxonburg. I have a few hours to kill before the seller gets off of work. My girlfriend and one of my friends are coming with me, and I think that we'd like to visit the Andy Warhol museum. Can anyone recommend some good record shops, vegetarian-friendly restaurants and bike shops that sell used/vintage equipment in the general vicinity of the museum? I know my time in the town is short, but why not make the most of it?

I've never been to Pittsburgh in my life and I figure some of the brahs in the FG/SS forum would be able to give me a heads up.

Sadly, there's not much of anything around the Warhol museum. There's stadiums.... and, uh, not much else in the area. The Warhol's cafe is quite good, though, and veggie friendly. There is Stedeford's Records on East Ohio street, but finding the treasures inside take time. Good hip-hop vinyl tho.
Pretty much everything you want is in the East End. Jerry's (2136 Murray Ave, 15224) is an amazing vinyl store for all genres that people travel from other countries for. Brave New World (in Oakland) handles punk / hardcore / hip hop, Pauls CDs on Liberty ave is excellent for everything else. 720 Records in East Liberty has a lot of club / hip hop / reggae.
Oh yeah, bikes. Kraynicks (Penn Ave) is fantastic for vintage stuff. You could blow the four hours there, no prob. Also, Iron City bikes (331 South Bouquet Street, Oakland) has used stuff, but I haven't been there in a while. All that stuff should be Google-Maps-able if you want to get a better idea of where everything is.
My personal rec - Warhol / (several excellent restaurants en route) / Kraynicks / Jerry's / parkway to Saxonburg.

or, you could come back next weekend for the alleycat and kill your four hours that way...

oh and there is a newish coffeehouse a few blocks back on Jacksonia and Buena Vista that would at least have coffee (Peace Coffee) and good baked goods.

I'd love to, but I've gotta roll in tomorrow due to time constraints and the seller. :(

The Warhol museum was sweet. And my new car is hot.

I'm guessing that a couple of the dudes that work at the museum are fixed-riders. I saw two bikes locked up outside, but I didn't check them out. I think one had pink Aeroheads, but I could be completely wrong.

You guys have a tight town - much better than Cincinnati.

You may be talking about my friend Jessie's bike; it has pink Deep Vs. I guess that means she's back from Canada...

Kevin, I'm glad you noticed PGH is light years ahead of Cincy.

Glad your visit went well! Did you make it anywhere beside the museum, or did you run out of time?
