Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

A good single speed frame?

The link below will show you the pic. Now would these "drop outs" ( or what ever they are called) be the best for a Single Speed? Dose anyone have pics of the best "drop outs" for a Single Speed bike?

David

fork ends or horizontal dropouts would be best. vertical and semi-vertical dropouts will not allow you to adjust chain tension. if you end up in a situation where you have too much slack in the chain, and then too little after removing a link, you will have to resort to a singelator type chain tensioner.

I wouldn't want any kind of chain tensioner. What kind of drop outs are the old single speed bikes?

drop outs point forward or down. track ends point backwards. as long as there's some length to the opening, be it facing forward, slanty-forward, or backwards, it's good for singlespeed applications.

Get that P.U.S.S you've linked too, trick it out and come back and tel us about it, that's a pretty lil ride. Yes, those are the dropouts you're looking for.

The PUSS is great, if you need to save money get a singulator. They will ride basically the same.
