water bottle handlebar mounts

I am looking for an elegant solution to needing a water bottle holder for longer rides, yet not having braze-ons.

I think my best bet would be something that clamps on to the front of my handlebars and holds one or two water bottles (ala vintage Tour De France). Where can I find these? Do they work well? I assume that they can be taken off easily and stashed between my weekly rides, to keep the bike looking minimal otherwise.

profile design makes one that clamps on to your seatpost and holds two.

most shops sell handlebar rigs for bottle cages, if you can't find them, make your own with rack stays. We do it all the time.

or zefal makes a device that you can mount on the traditional positions of seat tube and down tube and put a normal cage on

I was looking for the same kinda thing a while ago and stumbled upon the seatpost water bottle clamp solution (The kind of holders used to TRI's and IronMans). LBSs that have then sell 'em for like 40, 50 bucks. Chucksbikes has one that will use any standard cage and clamp on your seatpost of $16.00. It's called: Velocity STP Water Bottle Cage Holder.

Good Luck.

I wanna make one of my fixies into a vintage old school TdF bike with the front mounts. I think Minoura also makes a front mount. Might not be period correct, but at least it'll get the job done. Now I gotta find some wrapped glass bottles....

Mount any cage to your handlebar

Mount any cage to one of the rails on your saddle

I have one of the brackets to attach cage to saddle rail - works great.

Minoura SBH-300. A bit clunky looking, but functional and affordable.

The handlebar mount ones always look a bit dinky to me, if you know what I mean.

It looks like it should work fine as long as your tubing isn't massively huge. It's all velcro fasteners and rubber blocks, so you should be able to fudge it with bigger tubing.

I just zip tied a standard cage onto one of my bikes. Two zip ties cinched tightly in place of each normal bolt holds it in place fine. If you have a nice paint job to protect, wrap a few layers of electrical tape around the frame where the cage and zip ties will contact it. automotive worm gear hose clamps work great for this kind of stuff too. They can get really tight if you want them to.

Soma makes a coffe mug holder, and I saw a handlebar iPod nano holder online earlier today but I am too lazy to find it again.
