Skipping/skidding technique

this morning i noticed that i pull up on my front foot cage a lot to skip or skid. does anybosy else do that? is it weird? poor technique? i am thinking it's probably not the right way to do it.
after that i consciously tried not to do it and was able to avoid it but i think it's kind of memorized by my muscles. does anyone have any pointers to correct that technique?

This ain't ballet. Do whatever you like that works. Do you put your weight far forward or keep it more centered over the middle of the bike?

When I rode clipless, I used to not lean as far forward, which made for more forceful but shorter skids. With toe clips, I find it easier to skid by leaning forward, but will lean back if I'm trying to stop at the bottom of a steep hill, or something like that

Go with what works, try different things, skidding is fun!!
