Sugino 75 Bottom Bracket

I recently got a frame that has said bottom bracket installed in it and would like to take it out and re-grease it, it sounds a little dirty. I dont like having things that I did not put together becasue I now don't know how to take it apart. I have the 36 mm? BB wrench to fit on the drive side and the lock ring tool to get the lock ring off. I am assuming that I need a pin spanner to get the other cup out, correct? Then in terms of pin spanners, are there any spanners that any of you recommend. The fixed size park ones .vs. the adjustable one. I have been trying to find a pin spanner at the flea market here for some time with no avail. Any one in Chicago want to come by one night and do it with me? I said do it, I have not heard that since 7th grade.

Pin spanner is correct (get a Park or Marcus will have a good quality one). You'll want to take the lockring off first and then use the pin spanner to take the cup out. The Park Tool website should give you the details. It's not very hard.

In a pinch you could use a small flat blade screwdriver and a hammer and tap it out. Remember that this side isn't installed with any torque so it should come out fairly easy. 'Read' the exposed threads to figure out which way to untread it and tap tap tap away.

Ben, you are SO LUCKY. I just sprung for the $22 Park shop-quality stainless steel pin spanner, and I have the lockring tool, and I have the experience of having just done this on my Hatta Swan BB. I will bring this stuff Tuesday.

woooo, spoke cards and bike work, should I set up a sweat shop type thing in my garage? I will take out a light bulb so it is dimmly lit. uncomforatble wodden stools. crank the space heater up so you all sweat and I will drink some sort of exotic drink while I tease you all with cold old style.

Hey Ben
I have a set of Sugino tools to extract said bottom bracket.

Be advised: If you feel the need to remove the fixed cup (usually not necessary for just a bearing re-grease/clean-up), the fixed cup might need a little "coaxing" - hit the edges of the fixed cup (where it contacts the frame) with some break-free solvent and let it sit for a few minutes to help it on its way. I can bring my gear tuesday night to the laminationfascinationhappening if it hasn't been extractged by that time.
