Self sealing tubes?
Anyone here use tubes filled with a sealing agent? I've been trying out the Nashbar ones (http://www.nashbar.com/profile.cfm?c...eid=&pagename=)
for a couple months now, and they seem to be holding up really well, no flats at all. Whether thats the tires or sheer luck is anyones guess. The only annoying part is that sometimes when I pump them, the sealing agent comes out and gums up the valve. Any of you have opinions on them? oh and i know its not fg/ss specific. i just dont care. |
Garbage.
1) tube weight 2) makes a mess out of **** when you pump it up or when you take it out of the tire for when it doens't seal |
don't do it. slime is heavy and messy and useless.
the only sealant I'd ever use would be tufo sealant in a tufo tubular or tubular clincher. |
Useless above 60psi or under 60F.

The tube in my front tire on my backup commuter is the nashbar sealant type. I don't use it much, but it has held up for more than a year. The only problem I have is that it is a PIA to pump that tire up--the sealant has almost closed the valve shut.

Ive hated them, i use that tire liner, havent had any flats yet.

I used to use it, until it gunked up my valve so bad I couldn't pump the tube anymore. I just got liners instead.
Half the time it wouldn't seal my tube properly, the other half it would stand up to people putting staples in my tire. |
I had them on my recently sold hybrid, slime self sealing stuff, came stock on the bike, which was pretty cool. Lasted many miles but finally just couldn't seal up any further and the tube needed to be replaced. Smells aweful and made a huge mess. I hated them just that one day, but now i kinda miss em, especially after averaging 2 flats a week.
