EDITED EDITED EDITED

Okay here are the tentative specs of the bike, and who is contributing them. I'll PM everyone that needs it my address for shipping, and I'll PM those in Chicago about pickup/dropoff. (But don't except the PMs until tonight)

Frame/Fork: Surly Cross-check (Black). gorn
Rear Wheel: Surly track laced to Sun rims (hyperRevues rim, mattface's spokes. steaktaco build. Cash needed for hub (Really it's not a huge deal, I can get it. But some people have offered to contribute money, so here is your chance.)
Front Wheel: Black rims/hub. Nubie
Headset: threadless. treechunk
Stem: threadless. treechunk
Handlebar: Stoker Bars. WakeUpOnFire
Seatpost: Stock pista, 27.2mm. jamtastic
Saddle: From Fuji. Nubie
Tires: From Fuji. Nubie
Rim tape: steaktaco
Tubes: flat-master-evan (efarrar)
Crank: Sugino VP 110 BCD 170mm. curlybro + Aeroplane
Chainring: Rocket Ring 43t 110/130 BCD 3/32". efarrar
Chainring bolts (Might be on the crank already? Are those single speed bolts if so? Else I can pick some up)
Bottom Bracket: English Threading, don't know length (!). absntr
Chain: 3/32. jamtastic
Rear Cog: Stock pista 16t 3/32. jamtastic
Cog Lockring: Formula. steaktaco
Pedals: Dual sides SPD. Treechunk
Grips / Bar Tape: -=Łem in Pa=-
Water Bottle Cage: Chicagoamdream
Brake Calipers: Canti. treechunk
Brake Cables: absntr
Brake Lever: TT Lever. mrbertfixy

Okay the original post:

From https://www.bikeforums.net/showthread...8&page=1&pp=25

We've decided to build a bike for Archana, who was struck by a yellow hummer and will be unable to walk, or bike, for three months. But once she's back on her feet, we want her to be able to be back on a bike.

So far:

Part list (Copied structure from Nolageek thread):

Frame/Fork: gorn (At this point it sounds the Surly Cross-check)
Rear Wheel: (HRs rim, mattface's spokes, need a hub [probably buy a Surly])
Front Wheel: Nubie
Headset: treechunk (threadless), steaktaco, 128 (Both threaded)
(If threadless: Headset spacers/Headset topcap/Star fangled nut)
Stem: treechunk (threadless), schloe mo (quill), steaktaco (quil)
Handlebar: absntr (chop and flop), steaktaco, treechunk, -=Łem in Pa=-
Seatpost clamp: (Comes with cross-check
Seatpost: jamtastic (stock pista, 27.2), steaktaco (??)
Saddle: Nubie
Tires: Nubie
Rim tape: steaktaco
Tubes: flat-master-evan
Crank: curlybro + Aeroplane (110 BCD 170mm), treechunk (144 bcd 170mm)
Chainring: efarrar (43t 110/130 BCD 3/32"), mrbertfixy (48t or 46t 144 BCD 3/32), treechunk (42 or 52 144 BCD 3/32 [on crank])
Chainring bolts (Might be on the crank already?)
Bottom Bracket: absntr (English threading)
Chain: jamtastic (3/32), macg (1/8), -=Łem in Pa=- (3/32)
Rear Cog: jamtastic (16t 3/32), gorn (20t 1/8), efarrar (13t 3/32)
Cog Lockring: steaktaco, MacG unless we can find local
Pedals: mrbertfixy (1 sided SPD, clips/straps, powergrips), Bonelesschicken (clips/straps), treechunk (2 sided SPD)
Grips / Bar Tape: -=Łem in Pa=-
Water Bottle Cage: Chicagoamdream
Brake Calipers: treechunk (canti or sidepull), Nubie (sidepull), gorn (sidepull)
Brake Cables: absntr
Brake Levers: mrbertfixy (tt lever), MacG (Road lever minus suicide part), gorn (Aero road lever, with beat up hoods)
Spoke Cards: gorn, efarrar

Possible gearing with available parts:
https://grit.homelinux.net/gi/index.p...,16,20&diaid=1

I like the idea of 43x16, but 46x16 could also work.

43x16 would be the crank from curlybro + Aeroplane, the chainring from efarrar, the cog and chain from jamtastic (Is the chain rather new? If it's kinda worn we can always just pick up a new chain)

[edit]thanks MacG[/edit]

It looks like your link got copied/pasted from another post; it has ... in the URL. Here's what I think you were going for:
gearing chart using available parts

curlybro + Aeroplane's crankset with efarrar's 43t chainring and jamtastic's 16t cog and 3/32" chain would make a good setup and get the gearing we're looking for (coming in at 71 gear inches on 700x25 tires).

I think we still need a bottom bracket, but it is not bolded in the main list.

OK, ixnay on my bake sale idea, I was thinking we were going to have to get some serious cash together for frame/wheels, but it looks like at least the frame is covered

I said this in the other thread, but I googled Nubie's wheelset and it looks like it's probably 24/28h, so the rear is probably not going to be usable.

I could do some brownies! I could also build up a rear wheel, but I don't have any parts to contribute, except maybe spokes. I've got a bag of Asahi 295mm DB spokes if a hub and rim with the correct dimensions came along. If you've got a hub and or Rim to contribute PM me, and I'll plug it into Spocalc and see.

Yes, bold is what is still needed. Łem, I added you for bartape and possibly for handlebars.

Does anyone have bullhorns? That's what she'd like (She was on track drops before and tilted them up and never used the drop part). We can always do a chop/flop though. I have a hacksaw and some people say chop/flop is better than bought bullhorns anyway (I haven't used either).

Landgoiler, Thanks for pointing that out. We might just need to use cash to buy a rear wheel.

Just saw this.

I have plenty of Bottom Brackets so count me in for one of those. I can also pitch in some chop and flop bars.

I also have a front high flange track hub from a 05 Pista laying around.

If anyone wants to chip in towards a formula rear hub and spokes matched up with HyperRevue's rims, I'd be happy to build them up (though I'm sure steaktaco probably offered to elsewhere). I'd also chip in towards the rear hub and spokes - unless someone can get spokes from us from a shop or score a rear hub at shop cost price - which would make it ideal.

Not sure what Sun Rims those are, but if they are M13, or something similar, then my spokes should be a perfect fir with a Formula rear hub.

Yeah, they came laced to a set of Formula hubs that I took apart.
I'm almost positive they're 32H M-13II

So wait, is the deal on the f/f that we're planning on a cash buy and gorn is handling the logistics?

Yeah. I think I can cover the cost of the f/f, I guess it'd depend on what we decide on though. The rob roy isn't bad, the crosscheck is a bit pricey, but maybe someone here can get it at QPB cost? I didn't get her a birthday present so I figure getting the f/f is a good one.

And what absnter said about HR and matt being the bees knees, this whole forum is the bees knees. She barely even posts anymore and you guys all are so quick to help. It's a truly beautiful community.

Ahh, I didn't see that.

Treechunk, how much can you get a crosscheck for? (PM me if it's not-kosher to post supplier prices)

I also still need to find out which she'd prefer, crosscheck or rob roy, and make sure she wants cyclocross over trackish (She wasn't fully decided)

They probably can be sent to me, but let's wait until we have the rest of the logistics for the wheel build figured out.

If Sam (treechunk) can get the spokes and rear hub at cost that would be ideal.

And amendment: you are all the bees knees.
