true, but it's really crappy design not to have the controls integrated into the player.

we could just be like bikeforums and outright ask for your money, but intead we figured we'd get it from people who already make the crap you like, so you can give THEM your money, and they give us their money. that's alright. haters gotta hate. but they do it by themselves.

don't be a hater, contribute articles and photos to MESS!

bldzr,

So are you a forum or a pay for picture site?

And one difference about BF, from you, is that BF allows free member ship out right, period. And really, Joe offers a pay option so he can stay afloat.

And here you are, moocing for free off his site to build money for your site.

So, maybee I hate, but you suck.

And only one person can suck at a time, really...

on your knee's to the all mighty dollar...

or you could just contribute photos/stories/whatever to a site that is already established and actually benefits new york messengers.

there seems to be some confusion, so let's clear this up right away, everybody...

MESS is totally free, in all regards. We don't want your money. We haven't asked for your money. We want advertisers so we can give away free stuff to loyal readers. MESS isn't a forum (like this site) or blog (like the esteemed Seaman Karsten's site.... ha HA... "Seaman"). Nor ar we a Nonprofit BMA site, like the NYBMA. We are a web magazine- and we want to be the best messenger zine that ever was- which offers free registration. This registration signs you up for an email list that updates you on giveaways, parties, races/events that we support and promote. The information we are asking you for in exchange is completely innocuous. It's less information than what you give to read full articles on the New York Times Site.

We are also contributor based, which means we'll put up any worthwhile photo, written piece, video, or Music clip, as long as it's marginally related to "Riding your bike in the city." We are not exclusively focused on the Five Boroughs of New York, although our URL may be confusing. Instead, contributions are coming in from all over the country. When we launch later this week. You can read scene reports from Philly, Portland, Chicago, Houston, and more. We've got articles about travelling the US and Europe on a single-speed. We've got the first video commercial for an alleycat - NY's "Bridge Battle." This is 100% DIY. There ain't a corporate dime in here. I'm on here not to mooch, but to hype, and to promote something that I am very proud of. I only hope that people on here,as well as other forums I post on, can be excited about it to.

See you in a few days.

Some times hype is code for BS folks who've got nothing to give.

So, you may not take cash, but you'll take our information and sell it so you can get cash. Six of one, 1/2 dozen of the others. It's splitting hairs, but you're making a profit from your readers, admit it.

That's funny. I haven't been a seaman for years But, nice crack. Former military, I can tell.

Let's just ask this question: Who are you by, name? What company to you work for, by name? Who owns this site you're promoting, by name?

This, I'd like to know. See, I know my name, and it's posted here. Do you know yours?

So MESS is go!!! I see we've got more than a couple registered users off the BF, so.. THANKS!!! I hope you liked what you saw. Keep checking back, as updates are constant! We should have some photo essays, more articles, and another video up THIS WEEK, and new stuff coming all the time. If you make bags or clothes or frames, get in touch with our advertising department, roxanne@messnyc.net. We'd be more than happy to arrange a way to get your ads/links up on our site. If you think something needs to be reported on, then send us what you have. We're (that is, I, Billdozer, from NYC/Portland/DC) interested in what you have to offer.

supporting urban cyclists and their ventures.

Let's just ask this question: Who are you by, name? What company to you work for, by name? Who owns this site you're promoting, by name?

This, I'd like to know. See, I know my name, and it's posted here. Do you know yours?

Hi everybody! let me introduce myself. My name is BillDozer, and I've been a bike messenger since 2001. I've worked and lived in Washington, DC; Portland, OR; and currently New York City. I've been to every messenger event I can get to since 2002, and have put on events like the West Side Invite, The 2005 North American Cycle Courier Championships, and the notorious Portland Halloween Trilogy (Occultonomy/Black Arts/Zombie Holocaust). These days I do food delivery in Brooklyn and spend most of my time with a few of my fellow NY messengers putting together MESSNYC.NET, a web magazine which focuses on urban cycling in all its forms. Primarily, though, it's an excuse to host our own videos and support our friends in their riding, creative, and business ventures. I'm fortunate enough to have a lot of remarkable friends who do a lot with their lives (more than just write blogs about being more proactive while sleeping), and I think they deserve attention.

If you do something rad, like make videos or take photos, or make things with your own hands, or if you just do funny tricks on yr bike, we want to see it. If we like it, we'll promote it.

Mr. Karstens, I have nothing to hide. But something bugs me... I can't seem to recall your face. How is it that in all the events that I've been to, all over the country, I've never met you? I guess maybe it doesn't match up with your shore leave, eh?

Is this your criteria for being "cool enough", having been to the same places you have? Or having ridden in the same circles you have? You're the gold standard that all should abide to be? Woe to those that don't, but they can still sign up, right? Live vicarious..

This had nothing to do with you on a personal level.. Though you seemed to take that and run with it. I'm very leary of people asking for information, random information for a "free" site, and no explanation. However minor and miniscule it could be.

This forum has not had to do the same thing in order to survive.

Niether has singlespeedoutlaw.

Nor has fixedgeargallery.

But you did. This was different, to ask, prior to any establishment, to have people give out information.

Now, you did send me a PM, about taking this "flame war" information off line. But, I see that you've posted here. Where do you want to continue this disccussion?

Either place is fine. Though, email is easiest.
