magazine article on Tokyo messengers.
i'm rather new to posting here, so i don't know if this article has been posted here.
regardless, i was flipping through magazines at work today and came across this article, it's sort of brief, but pretty cool none the less. (sorry the first two are so big! i only kept them that size so you could read the text! please excuse the crummy scans) http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b2...lla/img027.jpg http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b2...lla/img028.jpg http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b2...lla/img029.jpg http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b2...lla/img030.jpg http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b2...lla/img031.jpg http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b2...lla/img032.jpg |

the tokyo messengers are awesome. i work in an office in tokyo and we use messengers almost ever day. when they come to pick up a package from us i always slip out "for coffee" and go look at their bikes. lots of disc wheels.
|
Flip and chop, beat to ****, gold nittos. Nice.

actually, there aren't street vendors in tokyo. at least none i've ever seen. the convenience stores stock a lot of lunch type foods like sandwiches, bento boxes, and rice balls wrapped in seaweed. it is actually good quality (at least better than in the states) and is the the quickest food i've come in contact with. i think the article is pretty correct in this statement.
|
yes, thatīs true. iīm in tokyo now for a while and itīs very rare to see people eating lunch outside. i think thereīs no need for it because there are so many good fast and cheap places to eat.
|
pawls, we seem to be in the same boat. you want to go to a keirin race on thursday?
|
i love that there's a non-filtered cigarette called "short hope."
|
One of my favorite "fast" food places is a small Ramen shop in Asakusa. They use those meal ticket vending machines to speed up the ordering/paying process. This particular shop serves with fresh roasted sesame seeds (with mortar and pestle) and minced garlic.
Also, on practically every other street corner you can usually find vending machines that serve hot canned coffee. The Japanese are way ahead of the rest of the world with their pre-made coffee. |
yeah, the rest of the world tends to just make coffee fresh... what idiots

Also, on practically every other street corner you can usually find vending machines that serve hot canned coffee. The Japanese are way ahead of the rest of the world with their pre-made coffee. they spend so much time, money and sweat in researching and creating the best canned coffee the technology can offer. they don't go in cheap with beans, they grind them just right, they use mineral water, and though its canned coffee, i must say they're better than the **** coffee at mcDonalds. BOSS is my favorite canned coffee, followed by Georgia. speaking of coffee at fast food...moss burger offers very very good coffee. |
probably just kidding around...anyhow...2200 a month? insurance? damn, that's cushy.
|
Yes yes yes.. Moss Burger! and hot can coffee from vending machine......
|
2200/mo in tokyo is like asking you to eat ramen noodles everyday.
getting health insurance in japan is easier and cheaper than here in the US. IMHO it's the united states that is insane for having expensive insurance system, so expensive that many individuals cannot afford. |
i agree with the health insurance thing. i should have thought more about the 2200/month thing and cost of living before saying anything, though.
