Why I love Marinoni
I don't ride one (want to; one day - I see they're making the Ciclo in steel again, maybe soon!), but I get to see them all over the place all the time living in Quebec. Pretty. All styles, all configurations, all colors, the entire spectrum of riders.
I called for to get a ballpark estimate on a frame repair for my poor poor fixed pink nightmare with a crushed seat binder, and the person who answered the phone said, "Sorry, he can't come to the phone, he's welding." Dunno if the Man Himself still welds and brazes, but hey, sure I can leave a message, I'm not going to interrupt a framebuilder at work. |
that is pretty awesome. marinoni's are the best.

I would love a lugged one. I have been on the lookout for a while, but thus far no dice.
Monsieur Marinoni was once quoted as saying something to the effect of, "you're not a framebuilder until you've made a thousand frames." |
I have a Marinoni lugged SLX Road frame and fork that I found in the back of a shop here in Sac. I was told it was built for a team in 1990. I built her up with a new ultegra group and she is a blast to ride. I plan on redoing the paint and stickers so I called the shop. I think I spoke with the man himself, he wanted $10 for a new sticker set. He was clearing in a rush so I let him go but it was great to call a shop and have the framebuilder pick up the phone.
