Give me a history lesson professors.

I scored this Cinelli Model 2 stem on ebay the other night. I haven't received it yet so I am not sure what the engraving on it says. Anyone have the history on these stems? Production years and such?

well, you see that bolt on top. everytime someone would get a scar from hitting there knee, face, or crouch on the bolt, the orginal builder would engrave the persons' name on to the stem. It was like an eye for an eye or maybe it is just Cinelli's old stamp.

I always thought these stems would be murder if your hand slipped off the bars and you hit your chest on the stem.

I thought a forum of bike nerds would be a better place to start.

If he wants to know the history of flesh destruction, he would have to contact the original builder, that is who did the engraving...

Sorry, just recommended contacting the seller since I recognized the photobucket URL as the same guy who sold me my frame and he was very knowledgable about bikes in general, and particularly his collection, that's all.

No sweat Jedi. He and I have been chatting via email about bikes but I am going to wait to hear back from him before asking the question. I don't want to bother they guy too much. He does seem like a really nice guy and he has already shared some great bike knowledge.
