Loud bottom bracket. Help?

So after riding on a cheap conversion for the past year, I finally invested in the complete track bike of my dreams, an early 80's Casati w/ campy etc etc. Heres the thing, on my cheapo conversion, the ride was super silent, but on the Casati I'm definitely noticing a lot of noise from bottom bracket. I'm sure its not chain noise as I've played around with the tension, so its probably something to do with the bearings. The frame also has a bb cut-out, I doubt this would account for the noise but I'm not sure. Any suggestions of what to do? Thanks.

i don't really know a lot about this...but i'd try the search function. that's about the most helpful info i have for you myself.

tighten your chainrings. that could possibly be the problem.
If that doesn't really help, take off your rear wheel and just let the chain hang on the frame and start spinning and reefing on your cranks and see if you can get any noise from your bottom bracket.

I'm guessing you should also do a BB overhaul/repack as well cause your Casati was probably sitting around for numerous years.
while your at it, you might as well repack your hubs.

You need to overhaul your BB, after ruling out everything else that can cause noises to seemingly come from the BB area.

but what kind of noise is it?
creaking, cracking, grinding, squeaking, crying, knocking,
yelling, whining, humming, growling, barking, etc...
...just record the sound and give us a link to an audio file.
