Quick help on a fairly easy problem
I have a race tomorrow at 10 am and I was trying to get the pressure right on my tires. Turns out I have a short presta stem on the front tire and when going to pump it up, it went flat. With the design of the pump (it's a wrench force ATB pump)and presta stem, is there any way I can do this, or do I need to go back to the shady LBS that put the tube in and punch the guy?

get a tube with a 60mm valve -OR- get some valve extenders

my vote is to go punch the guy

I did the same thing, got the wrong size tubes for deep section rims. I got my floor pump to work by getting the head to stay in place , even if it wasn't locked or sealed. mini pump makes that harder, but theoretically possible?

i always forget to ask for longer stems and up with the same problem.
my fix= screwing on a scraeder converter. |
i always get 60mm stems, though they're longer than i tend to need.

you don't have any extra tubes you could use?
|
also, deflate the tire completely, and push (through the tire) on the valve while you clinch it on the pump. this might work for you.

So.. did you end up punching the guy? Or did you find a way to air it up?

with deep V's I had to shave off ~2mm of plastic off of my floor pump. EVEN with long stems.
