Broken Kryptonite
 

I have the NY chain and use the lock it came with. I just dropped my lock while frantically relocating my bike to a lockup out of the rain (I'm studying for midterms on campus), and the shackle separated from the lock body. The bent foot of the shackle has a groove in it where another round piece went, which kept it from slipping out of the lock body. It still locks, but it comes apart when it's unlocked, which is a pain in the ass. Has anyone else had this problem or have any suggestions for fixing it?

Midterms.. ugh I need to start studying for finals. Whenever I have something that I need to do I end up wasting a ton of time on BF.

Contact Kryptonite. Their customer service is pretty good and they will probably replace it for free.

I fixed it. With the shackle off, the orange rubber bit where the shackle foot goes in slid right off. This exposed an open end. With the rubber piece off, I could reinsert the shackle and snap the retaining ring back into the groove from the open end. The only problem I ran into is that I couldn't just slide the rubber piece back on. I tried to snake it on over the length of the shackle, and it ended up snapping at the thinnest part. It still stays where it's supposed to, it seems. Hopefully it will continue to work. I might take it apart and post pics if anyone's interested.

if saw i had dat prblem where it would b rattlin in there so one day i took it out ( dont member how ) and the chain U-piece and barrol* would come apart. i got us2 it and liked it better when i was lockin my bike from place to place. i lost that chain at MT nd i jst got a new one. nothin comes apart and it feels madd weird, but umm i dont even knw if i answered ur Q or not. i dont even knw if were talkin about the samething ...
