Indoor Bike Parking in Chicago Loop
Hey all,
Does anyone know where a guy can park his bike INSIDE in the loop of Chicago - my company is moving from the west side of the loop (Wacker & Randolph), to Madison & Wells, in the center of loop.
My old building had indoor bike parking, and this one doesn't...
If anyone knows of any buildings near Madison & Wells that have indoor bike parking, I would really appreciate it!
Thanks,
John

The parking lot across from the Sears Tower has covered spaces,
but they cost $ and bikes still get stolen from there. I just lock up
outside with 3 ulocks and a cable, and put goo in the seatpost and
stem allen key holes.

Thanks monkey - I might have to go that route. Stupid bike-unfriendly downtown buildings.

i'm not at all happy to read this.
dc has a law that any lot providing more than X car parking spaces ( i believe it's 10) you have to provide equivalent parking for bicycles. so every dc garage has a rack in it.
seems like it would be an easy law to pass. maybe it'll be my first project when i hit chicago.

I used to work down at Franklin and Madison, close to where you are and there were bikes parked outside daily. I know this doesn't directly help, but I got a feeling that bikes didn't get harassed too often around that intersection (same bikes day after day, no missing seats/bars/wheels)
Edit: if you work anywhere near Millennium Park you can get in on the free bike parking (indoor, secured) https://www.chicagobikestation.com/

man - you've got to be kidding me - you would think a city like chicago that considers itself a forward-thinking city, would have the exact same law already.
i was told by the new property manager of the building that we're moving into that i could rent a parking spot in the building and park my bike there - for $400 a month.

And while we are on Chicago and biking, check out the Chicago bike map: https://www.cityofchicago.org/Transpo...ap/keymap.html

I think the Bike Station is worth it. You'd have to walk a bit but that peace of mind is pretty good to have. Plus they have lockers, showers, etc.

My building has a big bike rack just inside the parking garage that you can use for free. They lock the door after about 6 or so, but some sweet-talking should get you in if need be. It's open all day every weekday. It is: 225 W. Wacker Dr; the entrance to the parking garage is on Franklin, just south of Wacker. It's not too close to Madison, but it's there if you need it.

+1 to the Millenium Park Bike Station. When I was interning in Chicago I would lock up and shower daily there, then walk ten minutes north on Michigan Ave to work. Fantastic facilities.
