I just got some used Mavic Reflex rims off of ebay. They are a little scuffed and scratched but otherwise seem ok, but I am a little unsure about using them. Is it ok to use them? Are there any warning signs to look out for? I plan on lacing them to 32 hole Miche Primatos.

If it weren't for used rims I would run out of wheels to build.
You can look for cracks around the spoke holes but they often don't show until you tension the spokes.

Make sure they're not taco'd.

Put them face down on the ground and see if there are spots where they're potato chipy.

If it's flat, then yay! Besides making sure it's not bent, definitely search for cracks and stuff, like the other members mentioned.

(You also might want to make sure you're using a level surface to put them on while looking for bends)

If they are OK I would use them.

One question..

Why are you so concern now , why didn't you think about it before buying them.

^^ Thats what I was wondering too. I wouldn't go through all the trouble of building up a wheelset with used rims. But if you got them real cheap then thats a good thing. I have built wheels with used spokes and was told never to do that so what ever works I guess. Get some fine grades of sand paper to sand out any sharp scuffs or scratches.
