Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

what the hell happened to this thread?! greyhounds?! damn you guys are so ADHD! lemme help get it back on track. i just picked up a 1978 Mercian at the veloswap in denver. mostly stock right now with a formula/weinman rear wheel. i also swapped out the seat and post with some generic but lighter post and a selle italia trans am saddle. it weights 20.5 pounds.

the paint is in pretty rough shape but it's pretty sweet to have my first road frame that actually fits!

~21 lbs. Feels lighter than my other fixie. I don't really care though, I started off on a 35 lb mountain bike from the early 90's, and this is fine by me.

Surly crosscheck touring bike/car = 27 pounds with racks, lights, and fenders.

RedLine 925 = 20 something.

Ridley Supercross cyclocross racebike (with gears) = just a hair under 17 pounds.
