Cannondale Capo
The pics are up at the c-dale website. I was actually looking for a geared bike to sit next to the trakbikes when i stumbled upon copy about nyc and messengers and being hard and whatnot. black or white.
man and i just bought a pista concept and was going ot have it powdercoated white. now i will not stand out at all :p http://www.cannondale.com/bikes/06/CUSA/model-7PR1.html |
Hehe...
"How did we do it? 1. We identified the root of fixed gear and messenger culture. NYC yo! 2. We worked with shops who are face to face with these riders everyday... Toga NYC, Sid's NYC, Larry and Jeff's NYC 3. We developed our rider performance criteria: Style, Simplicity and Durability Handling. 4. And built the bike." Also includes a pic of Team Puma I think. P.S. I am not a Cannondale shill. |
is that the same as mike giant's new c-dale (courtesy fecalface)? :

CAAD 5 Optimo? does not compute.
I thought the only thing that separated CAAD 5 from CAAD 7 was the Optimo tubing..... |
Pretty sweet bike. Any word on the suggested retail price? Are they in stores for this season?
Why I'm happy: My Single Speed for the masses thread |
$800-ish I think.
|
Man, I'm conviced squid is actually 5 people. Dude is everywhere.
|
OH MY GOSH! this is not good for my financial health! i always loved cdale frames, and always hoped that they'd come out with a streetable fixed gear bike.
and now what happens? oh boy...i am doomed. |
Looks like somebody at the NOS race already has one?

looks nice in white.
|
It's not white, though. "Raw hi-bright" is Cannondale's way of saying "bare aluminum with clear coat"

Yup. Soiled myself again.
Edit: Regarding the pictured bike above, rather than the one on the C'Dale site. |
goddamn it. there's 800-ish dollars i'm going to feel compelled to spend now.

one of the color schemes involves BBQ!!!!
It also doesnt come with a track cog, only a freewheel. Weird. |
so who knows what "2007 Early Release" means? Released before 2007? Or early in 2007? One of the Puma riders (Alfred I think) was in Bike Works while I was there earlier this week talking something about getting one of the new team bikes painted, guess they might have these in their hands already...
|
Odd, I wonder why it comes with a freewheel
|
I'm impressed... almost 20 posts and no one's busted out, "Capo? Looks more like Crappo to me!"
I'm here all week. Try the veal. m. |
it looks like the decals were photoshopped on

i asked my LBS, and they said it'd be out by the end of may. apparently, they had already been on order since the winter time... |

but whatever, combined with the new schwinn it looks like the quality of the new complete fixies being offered is going up, and that can only be a good thing. (Unless you are Tony Arms, but I think he's got market niche and rep in a good place already). |

Word. Vintage, custom, and high-end bikes will always have a place along with these off of the shelf bikes, so I don't think that people will feel like their territory is being encroached. Let's encourage this. I for one have already encouraged my GF (at the time) to buy a off the shelf SS MTB and my buddy is about to buy an off the shelf SS roadie. Maybe this trend (no doubt helped by current gas prices) will encourage more people to ride bikes as a whole which is GREAT. |
