Small brake levers
I see many fixed gear bikes with small brake levers. What are those levels called and who makes them? I want to make sure I buy levels that will properly mount to road bars.
thanks |
Im pretty sure the small brake levers people put on there bikes are bmx brake levers. I of course, could be 100% wrong.

a lot of people run cyclocross style in-line levers. most shops should carry them. the best selection i think i've found is at www.cyclocrossworld.com.

Cross levers. |
those are interuptor levers designed for cyclocross. paul makes expensive ones, and pyramid and tektro make cheap ones. lbs or google "cyclocross levers." they are designed for road bars, or both the fat and skinny kind.
in my humble (probably minority) opinion, those things suck as a primary brake on a fixed gear. when going fast, you are probably not on the flats. when you are on the flats, you aren't going fast enough to need the brake. go for a set of road levers. if you take it to the track, just swap the bars and pull the brake. |
Thanks, those are the levers I was looking for.

yeah, but for urban environments, I really prefer bullhorn over all else.
how fugly would it be to have a fixed gear with road and inline levers? maybe all hooked up to one brake alla fgg? |
Since I consider my front brake "for emergency use only" I think cyclocross lever perfect for the job
|
Tektro has some in-line levers that work well and are designed for road bars.
Enjoy |
i think salsa does too

Just to clarify, what's the diameter of your typical drop bars?
