to remove cog?

i dont have a whip and i dont want to use the rotofix method on my good frame, how the hell am i gonna get this off my hub??

onetwentyeight 05-20-06 08:29 PM

you're not. take it to a shop or find a friend w/ a whip.

somebodies 05-20-06 08:30 PM

Get a whip?

hyperRevue 05-20-06 08:30 PM

Your **** out of luck then.
Just rotofix it and just wrap a bandana around the BB shell to prevent scratching.

jayrooney 05-20-06 08:35 PM

listen to hyperRevue. wrap that bb shell and get that cog off scratch free.

cabbagerwsb 05-20-06 08:37 PM

do you have wood blocks and a vice?

na975 05-20-06 08:43 PM

fresh outta wood + vice, I live in an apartment, no room for vice much less furniture. o, by the way i bought my soma frame from bike station, he gave me a great price too.

jayrooney 05-20-06 08:49 PM

There is definitely enough room in your apartment to wrap a bandana, towel, old t-shirt, etc. around your bb and rotofix that cog off.

hyperRevue 05-20-06 08:52 PM

Seriously.
Just this morning I swapped out cogs from two different wheelsets in minutes and without any damage.

na975 05-20-06 08:56 PM

but dang, my frame is virgin i dont to hurt her.

hyperRevue 05-20-06 08:58 PM

You wont man...just be gentle with her and use a lot of protection.

Out of curiosity, about what kind of frame are we talking?

maybe i have to skid to get it off**********??

les walters 05-21-06 08:26 AM

just buy a chain whip they aint that expensive

beard 05-21-06 08:28 AM

maybe you should go to your lbs and get a whip, i mean you're putting alot of time into this when you could have gotten a whip from your lbs already :s

na975 05-21-06 09:54 AM

i took the lock ring off, then rode it to try to hop it off but no dice! it aint gonna budge-chain whip+3ft pipe prolly work, i hope.P.S. i rather just buy the whip than go to a lbs.

sourasher 05-21-06 10:38 AM

I let hyperRevue do it to my virgin frame and it didn't hurt (it) a bit. Don't be afraid to use a little muscle. Or buy a chain whip, OR take it to a shop.

na975 05-21-06 05:38 PM

ok i just found my chainwhip, but it only fits a 3/32" narrow chains, can i retrofit it whit a peice of 1/8" track chain??? P. S. its a park SR-1 tool

jayrooney 05-21-06 05:59 PM

ro - to - facking -fix already!!!!

you don't have to buy anything, you won't scratch your frame, and you'll learn something new.
you'll improve yourself!
