broke my beaters

eggbeaters that is. skid stop, next thing i know, my knee is in my chin. turns out one of those four loops that comes from the ceter spindle broke.

anyway, while the beaters are in the shop, i dont know what ill do. being bikeless for weeks while waiting for pedals is not an option. maybe this is a good time to revisit cheap clips and straps? any suggestions on good cheap used pedals?

MKS pedal combo from IRO? MKS sylvans, clips, and straps for $44. pretty sweet deal.

i had the chromo. was thinking about upgrading, but is stainless steel any stronger than the steel under the chrome?

ill most likely look for some used mks, once i can find some.

I would most likely suffer severe injury if my egg beaters did this to me.

Speaking of problems with eggbeaters, one of mine has been having this issue where the plastic plug on the end wants to wiggle itself loose over time. I keep screwing it tight every couple of days, but this is a less than satisfying solution. Any ideas?

astrx, contact Crank Bros and see if they'll send you a replacement pedal directly. or call the shop and see if they can exchange the pedal with a set they already have in stock.

Even good clips and straps are no match for clipless.. Just find a good cheap pair of SPDs or Times. They'll do you fine.

Still no reply from Crankbros, and to my horror, I checked the pedal this morning when I got to work to find the plug completely gone. Any ideas as to what email/phone number I should try contacting them about this at?

I sent my email to info@crankbrothers.com on Thursday afternoon, so it's very possible they just haven't gotten back to me yet.

Agreed. I have them on 2.5 bikes, one fixed others mtn, and I like them very much. Can't imagine myself breaking them.

How do you do that?

BTW, I had 0.5 eggbeaters on my bike once. Beater on the left, SPD on the right, testing out my feeling that the beater is not as solid an interface as the SPD. I thought about leaving it like that for fun but the beaters were so bad I sold them.

blah. eggbeaters are great. used a pair for almost two years now with no maintenance whatsoever, they're light, easy in and out, and have an intuitive design.

I don't think they suck, but after moving from Time to Eggbeater, I do prefer Time.
