those things should come with lessons.
 

I was out riding around on Saturday night and stopped for a breather. I saw a nice, shiny new bike locked up and went over to take a look. To my dismay and shock, it was indeed locked...to a pole with a decent u-lock...that was put around the front fork and two spokes. It was a nice, new, pretty decent Trek and it had quick release wheels. So, with a flip of the lever you could have pulled the wheel off, left it and pulled the fork out of the lock.

Jeez! I hung around for a bit to see if the person came back so I could tell them they had better start using a new locking technique, but no one showed. Had no pen or paper so couldn't leave a note either.

I think I had a nightmare the night of a person losing their nice, new, bright bicycle. The horror. I hope you still have your ride and I hope you learn how to lock it!

Life does come with lessons; a stolen bike'l learn you right quick.

Back in high school, a friend of mine brought his Bianchi road bike to school and locked it up to a no parking sign. To mess with him (and to teach him a lesson, I guess) we lifted the bike and lock over the top of the sign and post and hid around the corner when he came to unlock his bike. Shoulda seen the look on his face when his bike was gone! Once he heard us laughing, he figured it out. That learned him.

My buddy did that to me one time.
Scared the shizzle out of me.
When he brought it out from behind a dumpster I started laughing so hard my side hurt.
By the time he got close to me I was doubled over.
I grabbed the bike and gave him a right uppercut to the gondolas.
We both learned something that day.

My roommate would always come home and run inside to grab something, while leaving his car running in the driveway (this would happen at least once a day). One night my friend and I came home and found his car running in the drive way. So we backed it out of the driveway and parked it around the corner. When we walked back to the house we found him on the phone with the police dispatcher and as soon as he saw us he replied, "Nevermind!" and hung up the phone. He wasn't too happy with our stunt.

A friend of mine likes to drink alot of alcohol. So one night we took his liver and hid it in his dresser drawer. Thatt'l learn'em!

Both my Kryptonite and my Onguard came with proper locking intructions.

Even had pictures for those who can't read.

This reminds me of my incredulity at those instructions that come with packages of condoms.. If you can't figure out how to protect yourself without a pictorial, maybe you shouldn't be taking risks!
