Does this look like a decent frame for NYC riding:

Is it better to find a road bike frame? trying to find a cost effective way to build up a fixed.

thnx!

you will have fewer options of pre-built fixed wheels, but MTB tires probably would be a bit better for winter riding in NYC.

Shipping that frame from California to NYC doesn't seem like it's worth the effort. Just find something local, either from a shop that deals with used frames, Craigslist or another BikeForums member.

PS. I vote for a road frame. 700c is nice.

Depends on weather you're trying to build an ATB or a road bike. Either would be fine - just a matter of preference. If your #1 priority is cheap, you're probably going to have more luck finding a road-spaced fixed hub than a ATB one for cheap. Also "weight: only 7lbs" is not so good. And there's no fork, so that's added cost....

Heavy old 80s frame. I wouldn't bid beyond 60 for it. Even with new paint, it's still kind of a dog of a frame.

cheapest way is to buy a used bike that is already built up, used stock bike or one of the many stock ss/fixed. seems that almost every major manufacturer has one now or will soon.
