Chicago: Movie Night : "Pedal" Documentary
Hey Chicago People - it's been a while but I'm glad to be back. A friend picked up the documentary "Pedal" for me as a late b-day gift, and I'm itchin' to watch it. I figured it would be more fun to share the bicycle-love with everyone else too! So....
What: Screening of "Pedal"
Where: My house - 844 N WOOD - Garden
When: (edit) Thursday June 8 -I'll press PLAY at 9pm, but I will begin drinking around 8...
If people wanna come early just to chill, I'm down for ordering a pizza. Lemme know though. Also, a ride will most likely be in order afterwards because we'll be so high from watching cycling for an hour we'll just have to go tear up the streets. Come on over, bring a friend and/or booze. There are six cans of bottom-shelf beer leftover from the last party here, first come - first serve. RSVP via bikeforums to ensure your VIP treatment. first 5 bikes get exclusive indoor parking. ~D

WWJD?
What Would Jesus Drink?
Have the movie. It is good. I wouldn't plan on an hour of film though, more like a good 45 mins...just like Red Light Go. Too short. Both are awesome, if you are into fast footage and, as mentioned, every messenger being the fastest msngr

I don't want to start a new thread for it but, as per every week, some of us are getting together for drinks after work on Thursday. Hitting the garden at Phyllis' and I think that's kind of going to become the regular place for the summer. We're also having a bit of a bike clinic - tune-ups and cleaning - in honor of the ride to Milwaukee some of us are doing this weekend.
So yeah, we'll be there from 5:30 through about 9:00 if someone wants to stop by for booze before the movie.
As was true last week, I can be tempted out onto one of the back streets around there for sprints if anyone's interested.

Mostly we just get together for Thursday drinks but during the Summer there are some 'days of fun' and maybe a camping trip or two. Plus, we've taken to doing easy-pace training rides a couple of times a week for the Milwaukee ride I mentioned.

I am probably in - still got indoor room Dave? I've seen Pedal -- it was on Sundance around 2002/03. I enjoyed it -- definitely less flash and more documentary than say something like M*A*S*H and more substantial. I love the way it's shot -- it was the first time I had seen the skateboarding recording style taken to filming bikes on the street.
As a bonus -- do you have a VCR? If so, I might bring along a program length of televised Keirin with backstage (read: indoor scenes from the velodrome) footage of the little keirin shop they have with nothing but shelves and countless rows of Nitto, Sugino.

yeah there should be plenty of bike parking indoors still... and unfortunately no, I am a slave to modern technology and pawned off my VCR long ago. Sounds like something fun to watch though if anyone wants to volunteer to bring a VCR. Either way, come on out. I can't wait to see 15 people crowded around my tiny television.
