PDX: Pedalpalooza?
Yo Portlanders,
Anything on the Pedalpalooza calendar sound like a good event to meet up at? I know humancongereel mentioned the Burrito Alleycat on the 17th... anyone else free? I finally get some time off now that school's out so I'll be up in Portland more. Holla, etc, etc. |
that, and on saturday there's the world naked bike ride (a daytime one and a night one). i'd have to look at the schedule again to find some other good stuff...
seriously, i may put a bandana between my ass and the seat, but i am down for riding naked. hellz yes. |
Uh... unless I get by the dance supply store for some flesh colored shorts, I'm a no go on the Nekked ride. Maybe a tube sock, I dunno.
What about the rest of you slackers? The weather is finally nice and I wanna ride dammit. I'm sick of country roads, time to hit the streets of the big city. Also we could discuss a plan of attack for the SF meet up if anyone is interested in that. |
zoobomb century on sunday the 18th will be hot. with the alleycat on saturday that'll be a good weekend.
zerobug, you ashamed of your manhood? party naked!! |
the only part of it that I'm attending is the big bike swapmeet at that park on belmont street on the last day.
honestly, most of it looks really lame to me. edit: wait, is it bad that I said lame, like offensive toward the physically disabled? damn. |
lame is correct. if you are into bikes, you should have been at the invite two weeks ago. this is: bring your kids and the mangas then hit the sidestreets.
and about that alleycat. who wants to eat two burritos and sprint around? |
the pedalpalooza parade tonite was nice... as was meeting humancongereel and drinking a beet (edit: except it was actually a beer) with him... as was my first zoobomb ever. 2x on a 24" fixed gear. perfection.
|
that's a cool bike..."gt 'hybrid'" in his sig...
and yeah, i had a kick ass time. those were some good-ass potstickers you made. me and lelah hung out at powell's for a while and read james joyce and w.b yeats...it was fun. best thing about portland bike events, lame or otherwise: new friends. zach s and lelah (though this is like the 4th time i've talked to her). |

and about that alleycat. who wants to eat two burritos and sprint around? I wasnt at the invite because I'm not a messenger AND i was out of town. I don't compete in alleycats for the same reason. plus the idea of eating one burrutio and sprinting around sounds like hell. two burritos and I'm asleep man. glad to hear you guys had fun at the parade. I was getting trashed at the tube. |

Hey guys, I realize this is kinda random, but since we've got all the pdx'ers congregating in this thread, I'll throw it out there.
I got into work today and had an email from my dad telling me that my mom's bike was stolen yesterday afternoon from their locked rack in the Loyd Center parking lot. Apparently the thief is a ****ing moron because he left my dad's 3000 dollar Specialized Roubaix sitting on the rack but took my mom's somewhat crappy (but dear to her) Specialized Sequoia comfort road bike. Her bike is silver, size med. I believe and a 2005 model I think. It'll have a River City Bicycles sticker on it because we bought it there. The most important thing is that I replaced the saddle with one of the fiendishly ugly faux leopard fur trimmed Bianchi ones since my mom has a leopard fetish. :D Anyways, if the thief is dumb enough to leave a 3k bike in favor of one that costs less than 800 he may be dumb enough to leave the ugly saddle on it. If you see the bike anywhere, I would ask you to lock it up and immediatley call my cell number which is 503-467-6919. Many beers will rain from the sky for your efforts. Thanks in advance. I am so ****ing steamed right now. We bought this bike for my mom so that the whole family could get into riding and she is really really down now. She was becoming quite the bike fanatic. If you see the guy/ girl who took it, please don't do anything rash on my account. I'll be more than happy to do all the rash **** needed up to and including curb stomping the ****ing piece of **** who pulled this. |
Sinfield, you might want to post a notice on the BikePortland stolen bike listings... they've had a few success stories so it couldn't hurt.
Well hippies or not I'm going to be in Portland next weekend so if anyone is down to ride let me know. |
already did. I also signed up for the new automatic scanner program that somebody devised for craigslist. I figured I'd just throw this one out to you guys since having a few more eyes on the street never hurt and the bike has a pretty distinguishing characteristic.
|
sorry man that's such a bummer, must have been the leopard print.
our eyes are peeled. |
Yeah, I just talked to her on the phone and I'm pretty bummed now. It's like when you see a little kid drop their ice cream cone and it makes you want to cry. I picked the seat up out of the used bin at River City and gave it to her for mother's day. You woulda thought I gave her a full NJS 3 rensho or something hahahaha.
Thanks for keeping an eye out fellas. Did I mention that I will lavish many gifts of delicious barley pop on the soul who helps me recover? |
I'll keep an eye out. fingers crossed the crackhead who stole it keeps that saddle on it. you can see those things a millions miles away.
