mks sylvan pedals

i know the pedals are pretty cheap, but i just got some and some mks leather straps. did anyone else have problems threading the strap through the pedal. it just seems like the strap is too thick, perhaps pliers would help or are they just not compatiable.

force it through

Soak the straps in water for a few hours.

Soak the straps in water for a few hours.
water won't damage them?

Pliers are what I used for mine.

pinch the straps laterally with some plyers so they have a valley in them. makes them fit in easier.

beer and cursing loudly helps.

kated 06-08-06 03:03 PM

sounds like i'll try the plier trick along with some beer!

File the edges smooth so you don't rip the straps when you force them through.

+1 for pliers

Water was ok for me. You'll be riding in the rain now and again, no? Once everything dries out it's happy time.

Pull really, really, really, really hard. First pair on got on with my hands, second pair, pliers.

Neatsfoot oil. It's leather dressing anyway, plus it lubricates.
