Virginia Beach "critical mass"
 

this Saturday, June 10th at 3pm. we're meeting in front of the giant Neptune statue at 31st street.

I know its not a friday at the end of the month, but i didnt organize this, so i dont know what to tell you other than it should be a lot of fun.

I hear there are a few route options that will be decided upon once people get there, but i dont know more than that.

One thing we really do not need in Va Bch, is a critical mass.

if it was in Norfolk, i'd come.

i mean i have my doubts, but i'm going cause i live close to there and a lot of friends are going.

I understand that, if I were going to be in town I might have checked it out. But I would probably split my time between Sand Soccer and Harbour Fest. Its just that I think the bicycling enviroment is pretty good and I'd hate to see any problems arise from a mass.

I'd go if I didn't have to bike so far to get there.

Yeah I work out near Pembroke and I will have my bike out there Sat, but the beach is just to far.:mad:

Critical Mass in Newport News! I've got a phat speedball hookup on chesnut we can all ride out to.

It was pretty fun living there those many years ago.

I trust the "nazi" comment was in jest. I find the VBPD to be pretty cool to cylists. They will shoot you 31 times if you lurtch your car at them though. I cycle from my home in the Pembroke area to yhe ocean front all the time. It's about 10 miles, 45 mins or so at an easy pace.

I spend half the time on my bike in VB and havn't had a run in with the po po. But I don't go down to the beach, and I hear they are much stricter down there.

i commute up and down the beach a lot and havent ever had problems with them, including last year in the thick of the tourism

The ride was a success i'd say, limited cop intervention, a decent route, and at the end there was talk of an organized last friday of the month, so it looks like things are gonna work out!

Yeah it was fun. I was surprised at how many people showed up. Hopefully it will be even bigger next time.
