Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Depends on what you want? Mountain, town cruising, giraffe, etc?

I have a mountain uni, a Torker DX. It's a 24" wheel. It was about $100. I love it.

$100 for the DX? I was looking a while ago, and I don't remember them priced quite that low!

Semcycles are the best. They also make the most comfortable seat, I have one on every unicycle I have (~6). I also picked up an old schwinn at a thrift store one time for $5 that I ride alot. If you have the sticktoitiveness to actually take the time to learn to ride it, its a hell of alot of fun.

If you're just getting into it, get a cheapo summit uni off of craigslist for 25 bucks. That way you can drop it all you want, abuse it and eventually break it and not worry about it. Once you have the hang of it, get a decent one...I like the older shwinns.

^ Ditto. It's a blast but I need a bigger one. I only have a 20" and at 5'10", it's a little too twitchy.

craigslist has a severe lack of unicycles in my area, let alone $25 unicycles, which is right what I want to spend.
