chipped paint at lock nut and seat post
Any suggestions on how to prevent more chipped paint at the rr wheel lock nut on my rattle-canned frame? (Taking all the paint off is not an option, I want to keep the paint on!)

Okay, seriously.
Why do you care about the paint on the drop out?

on the INSIDE of the dropout, even...
did you strip the old paint before you rattle-canned it? apply primer? apply a clearcoat?
i usually scrape the paint off the whole length of the dropout where the axle nuts are going to go, even on brand spanking new bikes, the paint A. chips, and B. can cause the rear wheel to slip. on my roadie, i scraped the paint to find that the dropouts are polished stainless steel underneath, which is even worse. ...i still haven't gotten around to roughing it up, so i run my QRs super tight.

get some of that heavy duty truck bed ****, mask and spray just the dropouts. it's harder than rattlecan so it won't chip, plus it will give your nuts something to grip to
