Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

I might be with you on that one Sean. I am a terrible track racer.
On tuesday we did a points race and the only points I got were
a mistake. Luckily I could help out the team by giving 'em to my
teammate. Teamwork!!!

Update: I bought a nice around town beater and love riding it. It has stem shifters which are gross and I absolutely love them. Oh and I replaced the stem because it was like 140mm...****ing huge.

I don't think Superrookie posts here anymore, so I'll say it. He is also selling his street track bike. The Panasonic. Look for it on craigslist sometime soon. He still has a track bike or two for the velodrome though.

Your bike is sexier than mine.

I need to mount my rack on it so I can get groceries with it.

Are we allowed to talk about racks on this forum??

allowed? psha!

the best was going to fiddle class last night. i just stuck my violin case right into the pannier. it stuck out like 18", but whatever. it was fun. it was funny. and i never before realized how long my wheelbase was, but i got it, seeing that case stick up...

ps - the sexiest bike is the one that gets used the most. this one is too heavy to haul up and down from my 3rd floor place too often, so yours clearly wins.

road bikes are good...but get over it, I have the best road bike ever. And it does not have racks but it does have Phil Wood hubs.

Phils are too heavy for road racing and too nice for a beater.

just the rear is heavy...but if you have ever rode a pair you would know that the weight is worth it.
edit: one could say that about steel lugged frames as well...but I am never goin to give those up.
