EAI BareKnuckle Advice

After restoring an old rusty Schwinn for SS, I am building my uber modern fixie. All black components, the new Level hubs...very tech. Anyway I still wanted a steel frame but with more contemporary lines. The Bareknucle seems to fit the bill, but I would like some advice on sizing. Speaking with a distributor they said the BB runs high so the smaller sizes feel larger. I am 6'2 with ape arms and chicken legs and I currently run a 61 c-c with a 57.5 tt. This sizing feels right for me, but the top tube may be a bit short. I believe the 58 cm (c-c) BareKnuckles have a 57.5 tt. I am afraid this frame will be too small for me even though the tt seems correct. Anyway....

Anyone who rides a BareKnuckle mind sharing there sizing experience with comparison to other frames they ride?
Cheers

I havent personally ridden one, but a friend of mine has his and its massive. he is about your height and got a 61 maybe even one step bigger. He says its very comfortable.

TT length is only part of it. How long is the stem on your current bike? If it's on the shorter side (100-110mm) you can always get longer stem (130-140mm).

i usually ride 57-59cm frames (though i am almost your height, i just dont feel good on anything 60+). have a really comfortable 58x57.5 road frame. i was riding a 58cm square track frame which felt just a bit big before i got my BK. i have the 56cm BK and it feels about right, maybe a little smallish.

so basically my experience is they run 1/2 size to a full size big. i am generally comfortable on 58cm track frames and i am pretty comfortable on this 56.

i would say go with the 58... that way with the high BB it will have a pretty normal standover height for you and if it feels short on the TT, you can always get a stem that is 1 or 2 cm longer and make up for that.

Thanks for the input everyone. I did consider the longer stem and may go with the 58 then use it. If anyone has experience with this frame or similar please share. I jts like to get a bunch of opinions.

i'd have to agree with dmc, 58 would probably be a good bet. i have a 54 bk and it feels closer to some 55's or 56's i have ridden. so yes, they tend to runa bit big

ditto.

there was another thread about bareknuckle sizing, absntr suggested ording an off the peg bob jackson frame, ends up being about the same price.

I cant compare the two and like my BN super stiff, but as soon as i got the all black set up i was immediately tired of it when comparing it to my vintage nishiki's detailed paint work. Now i would prefer an all black set up on a beater to make it even more low key.

People's different proprotions aside, 6'1" on a 54 seems pretty small.
I'm 6'1" and I ride a 57cm.

Not quite freakshow material, just longish (34" inseam).

zerobug 06-19-06 03:20 PM

I bought based on my road bikes (58-59), I'm 6'1" w/ 35" inseam and my 58 fits fine with a 110mm stem.
