Picked up a new fixed gear (from a dumpster)

It's a Kent. There's no model apparently but it does have a sticker that says NO BRAKES.
It has sweet plastic aero trispoke rims. Seat tube measures about the size of my foot (lost my tape measure). It actually is fixed, no coaster. I'm going to take apart the wheel and see what it's like. My guess is bearings are inclosed of the wheel/hub composite plastic. The hub and the wheel being one piece is probably why it's fixed. I have yet to see what the gearing is because the drivetrain is enclosed.

so.. does anybody want the sticker for their bike?

Seat tube measures the size of your foot?
9 - 10 inches?
You're talking BMX?

no, it's a 5year old's bike.
I'm bad at pushing sarcasm over the net.
ps: I wear a size 13.

On a serious note, out of all the kid's bikes I've worked on, I haven't ran into a fixed, only coasters. And holy crap, this seriously weighs more than my bikes. It's got to seriously be 25 pounds.

Wow, didn't get any of that.
haha.

the Kent should have given it away. (infamous x-mart brand)

hyperRevue 06-18-06 10:18 PM

Ah, sorry.
No idea.

Yeah I've seen one of those "NO BRAKES" fixed kids bikes. Also, it's hard to try to trackstand such a small bike.

Not with training wheels!!!

lol, give it to a nephew or something. Y'know, get him off on the right foot and all.

One of the characteristics that I remember about the first "two-wheeler" I ever rode was the pedals kept turning and the bike was like my tricycle in that it couldn't coast. That's right. It was a fixed gear.

I recall that being somewhat of a disappointment since I had been watching older neighborhood kids coast their stingrays around our court all the time.
