IRO Wheelset Upgrade?

So I'm looking to check out this whole Fixed Gear thing and I've been snooping around here for a week or two and trying to google the answers to my questions but now its time to ask the forum.

Seems like the IRO is a popular "starter" bike. I checked out their website and I've got a few questions. The Deep Vs are definately aesthetically cool, but is the "deluxe" wheelset a worthwhile upgrade? Purchased separately, there is only a $65 difference between their wheelsets, so convince me its worth the $100 upgrade cost when purchasing with a bike.

I emailed IRO last week but got no response. Thanks for your help!

How much do you weigh?

the better you like your bike the more you'll ride it. so if looks matters then yes. Also people have said nothing but good things about that wheel set.

I went with the upgraded wheelset, I can't friggin wait to get it! I ordered on a sunday night, Tony called me the next day, then nothing until now (it's been a week).. Im hoping to get my shipping number soon =)

i don't understand the large difference in cost either. the only thing different is the rims, and deep v's don't cost that much more than aeroheads. is there a difference in spokes?

i have the aeroheads, and they're great. i'm pretty skinny but i'm pretty hard on wheels, crashing into things and whatnot. one front wheel has a small ding in it (had to replace a couple spokes also) and the other wheel has a flat spot (had to replace a couple spokes there too). if i had my choice i'd probably get a deep v front and aerohead rear.

you can also ask tony for double fixed rear hubs. you can put a freewheel on a fixed side but you can't put a fixed cog on a freewheel side.

I weigh in at around 200. Sounds like the Deep Vs are a worthwhile upgrade... any idea why they're priced that way?

Made to hold up to lots of stress. Originally MTB rims.

You also get style points when you get them.

Here's my IRO deluxe wheelset on my Fuji Track '06.

Wha? I know they make a Deep-V for MTB use, but I didn't know that was the original intended use. Where did you hear this?
